I was found in the early hours. That morning, the cobalt night receded like any other day. The city came alive, as the steel and stone of the Washington DC skyline shone against the rising sun, as the glow in the orange-tinted streetlights winked out.

Behind the bright spectacles of the downtown bustle, the brownstone sprawled in the shadows, secluded and brooding. It was no stranger to the visiting of law enforcement, but this night the neighborhood had seen the police in an unprecedented frenzy. Just another dead man, yet they felt it. The residue of insanity that plagued me for so long.

The front doors, now shattered, the ground floor ransacked. All they knew was the tales of the words of the man living inside had been thrown out in violent spats of unintelligible and broken language. My words, the words of the elder gods sent to destroy me.

The EMTs had hurriedly entered the scene. Every occupied room in the building, it seemed, had been filled with an agitated bustle of detectives and forensics, searching for clues as to what had befallen me.
